2006 EVENTS

In Support of the Gloucester High School Boys Basketball Team

Gloucester Cooperative Bank donated $1,500 to support the Gloucester High School boy's basketball team.

Due to considerable budget cuts, the funding for athletic programs at Gloucester High School has been substantially reduced. Although the Boosters raised additional funds to support the team by selling items at their concession stand, they lacked the money needed for the holiday tournament and practice uniforms. That's when they reached out to Gloucester Cooperative Bank for help.
The Bank's donation of $1,500 will purchase all of the practice uniforms for the team as well as T-shirts for the holiday tournament. Lisa M. St. Peter, Co-President of GHS Boys Basketball Booster, stated, "It is so refreshing that Gloucester Cooperative Bank stepped up in support of the youth in the community." Patrick Thorpe, president of Gloucester Cooperative Bank added, "Extracurricular activities are an important part of a balanced education and we are happy to do what we can to help. We hope the basketball team has a great season!"

In Support of The Gloucester Stage Company

Gloucester Cooperative Bank proud sponsor of The Wind and the Willows

Gloucester Cooperative Bank was proud to be one of the sponsors for Gloucester Stage Companies production of Kenneth Grahame's, "The Wind and the Willows", adapted by Alan Bennett. The production ran November 30th through December 17th. Gloucester Cooperative Bank found it very important to support this production particularly considering "The Wind and the Willows" subject matter of valuing your community.

Gloucester Stage Company mentioned how much they appreciate Gloucester Cooperative Bank's support as well as the support from all of their sponsors. Ticket sales alone only help out with about half of the production cost and the rest they rely on aid from corporate and individual sponsors. Amy Riccardone, Gloucester Stage Companies Business Manager, responded, "Gloucester Cooperative Bank has been a great supporter of Gloucester Stage Company over the years. With the assistance from them for our new building to sponsoring 'The Wind and the Willow', we feel as though we have really formed a very nice partnership."

The Bank's donation helped to purchase such things as lumber for the sets, actors' salaries, lighting cost and a number of other elements that are essential in putting on a production like "The Wind in the Willows". Mr. Thorpe, president of Gloucester Cooperative Bank stated, "Gloucester Stage Company is such an important part of Cape Ann and we are pleased to help out and support the arts in our community."
